## Why go

The half marathon earns its hills. It climbs the Wilson Way bridge for a view over Commencement Bay before dropping back to the waterfront, which is more scenery than most March races offer.

## What happens

The half starts at 8:10am, the 10K at 8:40am and the 5K at 9am, all from 815 Pacific Avenue downtown. The half and 10K are out-and-back routes along Ruston Way; the 5K is 3.1 miles and open to walkers. Every finisher gets a medal, and part of the entry fees goes to the Humane Society of Tacoma and Pierce County. The course closes at 11:10am.

## Good to know

Entry is $95 for the half, $60 for the 10K and $50 for the 5K through November 12, then goes up on a schedule that ends at $120, $85 and $75 on race weekend. Half marathoners get a long-sleeve tech shirt, 10K and 5K runners a short-sleeve tee, and the shirt deadline is February 16. Packet pickup is Friday, March 12, 2pm to 6pm at the Ruston Waterfront Market, 5101 Yacht Club Road, with race-morning pickup at each start line. Teams of four or more get a discount. Street parking downtown is $2 for the day on Saturdays.

**Next year:** usually the Saturday before St. Patrick's Day; TCMA opens registration in October.
