## Why go

Tacoma's official start to the holiday season. The tree lighting at the Pantages has been a downtown tradition for years, with a community sing-along, local performers, and Santa's arrival.

## What happens

Live holiday music, a countdown to illuminate the tree, and Santa appears to kick off the season. The event is free and open to the public; seating is first-come, first-served.

## Good to know

**Date and venue are not yet confirmed for 2026.** The 2025 lighting was Saturday, November 29, at the Pantages Theater. Tacoma City Theaters has not published a 2026 date or venue as of October 2026. This entry uses the traditional Saturday-after-Thanksgiving timing (November 28, 2026) and last year's venue as a placeholder. Check tacomacitytheaters.org for the official announcement before making plans.
