Who it suits: Anyone shopping for produce or planning a short market outing, especially in winter.
Duration estimate: Two markets · about 45–90 minutes each (estimated)
Cost basis: Budget for what you buy, plus parking. SNAP and WIC rules are below.
Getting around: Proctor and Broadway are in different neighborhoods. Pick by date, then check parking or transit.

A farmers market is a nice place to buy dinner. An empty street is a bad place to find out the season ended in September.

So check the calendar first. Proctor runs on Saturdays, with a shorter winter schedule. Broadway's 2026 season ran on Thursdays and is over.

## 1. Proctor on Saturdays

[Proctor Farmers' Market](https://proctorfarmersmarket.com/) sets up at North 27th and North Proctor streets. The 2026 season runs Saturdays, April 4 through December 19, **9am to 2pm**.

In winter it runs twice a month, with shorter hours. The 2027 dates are:

- January 9 and 23
- February 13 and 27
- March 13 and 27

Winter markets run **10am to 1pm**. On the other Saturdays, there's no market.

Give it 45 minutes to an hour, longer if you're eating there. Bring a bag.

To make a day of it, the [Proctor Saturday guide](https://tacomairl.com/guides/park-once-proctor-saturday/) adds shops, lunch and a movie.

## 2. Broadway on Thursdays, in season

[Broadway Farmers Market](https://tacomafarmersmarket.com/broadway-4/) ran on Thursdays in 2026, April 2 through September 24 (except April 23), **10am to 2pm**. It sets up between South 9th and South 11th streets, at 925 Broadway. It hadn't posted 2027 dates when we checked.

In season it has growers, specialty foods, prepared food and artisans. Give it an hour with lunch. The market posts a vendor map, and stalls can move from year to year.

## 3. Using SNAP or WIC? Start at the booth

Both markets turn benefits into tokens or vouchers at their information booths, so go there first.

Proctor offers SNAP Market Match and takes WIC. Some matching depends on funding, and different WIC benefits have their own seasonal rules. Broadway explains its EBT process on its site. For details, see [Proctor's rules](https://proctorfarmersmarket.com/ebt-snap-market-match/) or the [Tacoma Farmers Market food-access page](https://tacomafarmersmarket.com/food-access/).
