Tacoma Connect

A packed bulletin board inside Edison Square on South Tacoma Way, with flyers from neighborhood barbers, Reiki teachers, tattoo artists and a Halloween parade.

A tall black bulletin board lettered "Tacoma Connect Community Board", covered edge to edge in flyers and business cards, including an Anastasia musical poster, a Halloween parade poster, a Reiki cohort flyer, a Jane's Fellowship flyer and Edison Square's own room-rental flyer.
The sign still says Tacoma Connect, but Anastasia, tattoo flash and a Halloween parade have taken over most of it. Photo: Tacoma IRL · CC BY 4.0 · Photo details

The lettering across the top is left over from Tacoma Connect, the monthly networking night Edison Square used to host. Its last gathering was July 29, 2026. The board kept the name and kept filling up.

Edison Square opened in 1919 as the Realart Theater, one of Tacoma’s first movie houses, back when this stretch of town was still called Edison. These days it rents out space for events and recurring programs, and its own flyer is pinned near the bottom.

A lot of what’s up here is from right around the building. The Clean Cut Boys Club and VIBE Fitness Studio are both at 5419 S Tacoma Way, and the cleaning company with the vacuum flyer lists 5413. The rest reaches across town: a Reiki cohort, a downtown tattoo studio, a North End drop-in childcare spot and the City’s neighborhood councils.
