Why go
El Vez has been staging this Christmas show since the early 1990s, long enough that, as he puts it, his band wasn’t even born when it started. This year’s version promises a white Christmas, a brown Christmas and all the colours in between.
What happens
Doors at 7, show at 8. The set mashes Elvis rockabilly, Bowie glam and punk with satire, political commentary, Chicano culture and Christmas songs, and the jumpsuits change with sequins and capes. The merchandise table, billed as the El Vez Gift Line, brings vintage shirts, posters and the Merry Mex-mas reissue.
