Why go
Organ concerts don’t usually come with a percussion orchestra. This one ends with Lou Harrison’s Concerto for Organ and Percussion Orchestra, a piece you rarely get to hear live.
What happens
University organist Justin J. Murphy-Mancini pairs the organ with cello, flute and violin, played by PLU faculty Mara Finkelstein, Jennifer Rhyne and Svend Rønning. He’s joined by the PLU percussion ensemble, Miho Takekawa and other guests for the Harrison.
Good to know
Buy through the PLU calendar listing. The hall is on PLU’s Parkland campus, not in Tacoma proper.
