Why go
The rare festival where the food booths are the headliners: hand-made baklava and kataifi, gyros and calamari in the tent, and Greek dinners from the church kitchen, with folk dancers performing between bites.
What happens
The annual festival at St. Nicholas, October 9–11: folkloric dance performances, church tours, a pastry shop and bakery, gyro/souvlaki/seafood booths, appetizers and full dinner entrees from the kitchen. Everything is cashless; cash can be loaded onto a free spending card at the cashier booth.
Good to know
Admission is free; budget for food. Parking is tight — the church points drivers to the St. Joseph’s Hospital lower lot and recommends the Light Rail from Tacoma Dome Station. Step-free access is available on 16th Street.
