Why go
The old-growth forest at Point Defiance is one of the best fungal habitat in the city, and this is the walk built for kids who want to know what they’re looking at.
What happens
Saturday, November 7, 10am to 1pm, meeting at the Fort Nisqually Picnic Shelter. Park Guide Jenn leads identification, how fungi work, and the laws and ethics around harvesting. Free.
Good to know
Registration is required — it isn’t a walk-up event. Ages 10 and up; siblings aged 10 and over each need their own registration, and younger siblings can’t come along. One adult must accompany each registered child, and the adult doesn’t register. Be able to walk up to three miles on uneven trail. Rain or shine.
