Why go
It’s the city’s biggest summer party, and the fireworks over Commencement Bay are the big draw.
What happens
Things start at noon. Live music plays at Dune Peninsula from 3 to 10pm, there’s a kids zone with games and a toddler area at Cummings Park, and more than 150 vendors line the waterfront. There are two 21+ beer gardens. The fireworks launch from a barge off Cummings Park once it’s dark, around 10pm, and last about 20 minutes.
Good to know
It’s free. There’s an ADA viewing area on the horseshoe pier, and first aid at Cummings Park and Dune Peninsula. You can see the fireworks anywhere from Dune Peninsula to Jack Hyde Park.
Next year: July 4. Parks Tacoma posts the music lineup in June.
