Before Proctor had shops, it had a sawmill. Historic Tacoma says the Northern Manufacturing Company ran one between North 27th and North 28th Streets, in what would become the Proctor neighborhood.

On Saturdays, North 27th fills up with farm stands instead.

The market is a nonprofit. It says it’s there to give area growers a place to sell their crops and to teach people about local farming. After the main season ends in December, a smaller winter market meets twice a month, with shorter hours.

Nearby

The market sets up in the Proctor District, on the same stretch of Proctor as the Blue Mouse Theatre.
